A very finely carved pair of diminutive Chinese export table screens, each elaborately carved stand supporting an equally well-made frame inset with a thin stone panel or ‘dreamstone’. Traditionally used in scholars’ studios, the stone panels especially chosen to resemble landscapes for contemplation and inspiration. Measuring 10″ x 6″, both with minor restorations to the woodwork, one with a very small line to the corner of one stone, otherwise good condition and ready to inspire. Late 19th century.
