A touching Japanese ivory okimono of a fisherman with a child; the man carrying a basket of fish, the child a basket of clams. The detail of the carving from the texture of the baskets, to the scales of the fish, to the caring facial expressions exemplifies the mastery the the Meiji period artisan. 6 1/2″ tall x 4 1/4″ x 4″ (base). ┬áLate 19th/early 20th century.
