A fine pair of Chinese hardwood scholar’s screens of diminutive size, each with an elaborately carved stand fitted with a slide out panel with a ‘Dream Stone’. These thin slices of polished stone were meant to be a source of inspiration and contemplation as their natural colorings and striations were meant to resemble landscapes. Each measuring approximately 10″ x 6″ x 4″. One corner of one stone with a line, one small burled panel cracked, and several joints of the stands re-glued, otherwise good condition and a unusual diminutive size, perfect for your tabletop contemplations. Early 20th century.
