A fine Chinese export porcelain plate, decorated in the famille rose palette, and in the Chinese taste, featuring a scene from the legend of the Yang Family Warriors-“The General’s Visit”. The story basically tells of a great warrior clan whose men were all killed in battle, and, in a great show of duty and patriotism, the women of the clan took the places of their fallen kin-here illustrated, the women mounted on their horses riding out as a visiting general waves his fan in recognition of their great sense of duty and honor. Measuring 8 1/2″ in diameter, in very good condition, and dating to circa 1730.
