A very charming Chinese porcelain yellow-glazed scholar’s brush washer or water pot with a finely modeled brown-glazed dragon writhing along one side. Even in its simplicity of design, the piece is well-molded and detailed, and would have adorned a scholar’s writing table as one of the accoutrements of the intelligentsia. Water pots or brush washers for the scholar’s use tend to be of round form; this one of square form is somewhat unusual, and, in remarkably good condition. Measuring 2″ high by approx. 2 1/4″ square. Kangxi period, late 17th century. $2,200.00
